Displaced people of Kurram yet to receive compensation
SADDA, 16 April: The people of Kurram Agency who have now returned to their native areas after long displacement have expressed disappointment over not getting the package of Rs25,000 on return.
Momin Khan, head of the association for displaced people, told TNN that the government has not paid them anything for repair of their damaged houses. He said they held several meetings with the officials but no one fulfilled his promise in this regard.
“Officials promised at the time of our return that we will get Rs25,000 and our damaged houses will also be repaired, but we have received nothing as yet. Despite repeated demands, no one is coming forward to help us due to which we are facing many difficulties,” he said.
Meanwhile, FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) Assistant Director Mian Adil said the affectees verified by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will get financial assistance, while non-verified people will not get assistance.
