Central, Lower Kurram teachers boycott classes over not getting upgradation

SADDA, 30 November: After the protest of schoolteachers from Upper Kurram Agency, the teachers of Central and Lower Kurram have also announced boycott of their classes over not getting upgradation.
The protesting teachers are of the view that the government had announced upgradation of teachers in 2012 but the teachers of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) are still deprived of it which is unjust. President of All City Teachers Association Muhammad Ayub told TNN that the teachers will boycott their classes till 7 December and will lock the schools and stage a sit-in in Islamabad if their demand of upgradation was not fulfilled.
“We ran from pillar to post for our right but no one helped us. We will stage dharna in Islamabad if our genuine demand was not fulfilled by 7 December. Our sit-in will continue till acceptance of our demand,” Mr Ayub said.
The schoolteachers of Upper Kurram are already boycotting their classes.

50 youth of Kurram Agency trained in heavy equipment’s operations

SADDA, 17 October:  50 male students of Kurram Agency have completed one month training in mobile crane and bulldozer’s operations which was organized by the Fata Development Authority (FDA) in islamabad. Assistant Political Agent Fazle Qadir Khan distributed certificates among the recipients of the training during a ceremony in Sadda on Saturday .

FDA director Hameed Khan said that during the one month training each student was given free food along with Rs 2500 rupees. One of the students told TNN ” I request the government to continue this training which is very important for jobless youth.

We 50 persons were jobless before getting this one month training but now we are employed because of these new skills that we have gained in the training”.

Inordinate delay in construction of Kurram college irks students

SADDA, 22 November: The government degree college approved in Doggar area of Kurram Agency 10 years ago could not be constructed due to which the tribal students are facing difficulties.

The local students said the college was approved at a time when Mian Iftikhar Hussain was governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They said the construction of the college has not been completed yet and they face difficulties in travelling to other colleges situated far away from their native areas. They alleged that the contractor of the college construction has embezzled the funds and the higher authorities are also ignoring the issue.

A local student, Abdul Karim, told TNN that many tribal students remained deprived of higher education due to non-construction of the college. “I would have been in my native Kurram tribal region instead of coming to Peshawar if the college facility was available there. I am doing B.Sc in Peshawar due to non-availability of such facility in my own area,” he said.

On the other hand, Assistant Political Agent Wiasal Khan, when contacted, said he was unaware of the issue.

Kurram PA imposes ban on CNICs, domiciles of Khoidad Khel tribesmen

PESHAWAR, 25 November: The political administration of Kurram Agency has imposed ban on national identity cards and domicile certificates of Khoidad Khel tribesmen for what it called creating hurdles in execution of developmental projects.

According to local elders of the tribe the political administration has imposed ban on their documents for the last six months due to which they had been facing problems.

“We have opposed the provision of electricity to Wazir tribesmen living in Palosin area because they are settled on our land,” said Malik Gul Hasan, a leader of the Khoidad Khel tribesmen living in Dol Ragha, while talking to TNN.

On the other hand, the Khoidad Khel tribesmen living in Chinarak, Zawa, Dumbaki and Mundan areas said they had no enmity with the Wazirs of Palosin. “Even then the political administration has discontinued our incentives and put a ban on our domiciles and other documents under the collective responsibility clause of FCR due to which we are facing problems for the last six months,” a tribal elder told TNN.

“Our students could not get admissions in colleges due to a ban on domiciles. Whereas, a large number of people missed their visas as they had no national ID cards,” they complained.

The tribesmen threatened they would block the Tall road if the administration did not lift the ban.
