Kurram tribesmen complain of being deprived of compensation amount

SADA, 06 December: Residents of the central Kurram Agency who have recently been sent back to their hometown complained that they had not been given the compensation amount as promised by the government.
“The FDMA officials pledged to pay Rs.350,000/- as compensation for the damaged houses and Rs.25,000/- as travel expenses to all the 19406 IDP families upon their return to their respective hometowns, but to no avail,” said Abdullah Khaliq, a dejected tribesman.
He said only 10 percent of the IDPs had been given the compensation amount while the rest of them were still deprived.
“At the time of our return, the FDMA officials gave us Rs.700/- only. We were told that the remaining amount will be given to us after returning to our homes, but till date, not a single penny has been given to us,” remarked another tirbesman.
Meanwhile, an official of the FDMA on condition of anonymity told TNN that the high ups had just given a ‘lollypop’ to the tribesmen and they would not be paid.http://www.radiotnn.com/kurram-tribesmen-complain-of-being-deprived-of-compensation-amount/
