SADDA, 24 May: The people visiting the Bagan Hospital in Kurram Agency are facing difficulties due to lack of facilities at the hospital.
The local people said medicines and other facilities are not available at the sole hospital of Kurram due to which they prefer to go to other hospitals situated far away. They alleged that a watchman of the hospital sales medicines to the visiting patients on exorbitant rates. They said the trauma centre at the hospital has been closed for the last two years and its precious equipment is rusting.
A lady health visitor at the hospital alleged that the wife of the watchman receives commission from the patients in delivery cases. The local people also complained that the lady doctor of the hospital often remains absent.
“Medicines are not available at this hospital. The wife of the watchman brings medicines on cheaper rates from the market and gives it to patients on exorbitant rates,” a visitor at the hospital told TNN.
Another visitor said the doctors remain absent from duties and those who attend duties don’t treat patients properly.
Additional Agency Surgeon Dr Inaytur Rehman said the sale of medicines will not be allowed in the hospital. He said the doctor not attending her duty will be transferred.
