SADA, 07 May: The deserted wells once dug for the Afghan refugees in Sateen area of the Lower Kurram Agency have been posing serious threats to the lives of local tribesman and their cattle heads.

According to local residents of the area there are about 70 to 80 wells which were dug about 25 years ago by different national and international organizations for the Afghan refugees who lived there for years.

“Thousands of Afghan refugee families were accommodated here in the Haji Nazir camp. In order to provide drinking water to these refugee families, different national and international NGOs had dug these wells,” Nasim, a local tribesman informed TNN.

“These refugees were evicted from the camp in 2005 due to militancy and fragile law and order situation in the agency. Since then, these wells have been left unattended posing serious threats to humans and cattle heads,” Nasim added.

The local residents said since these wells are laying in open areas, there are chances that people particularly children or animals may fall in them.

“We demand that the political administration should cover these wells to avoid any unhappy incident,” Nasim remarked.

When contacted the assistant political agent of Lower Kurram Nasrullah Khan said all the deserted wells would be covered up soon

د کوزي کرمي ايجنسئ اپرساتين سيمي اولس انتظاميي نه غوښتنه کړي ده چي د افغان کډوالو حاجي نظيرکيمپ کښي جوړشوي کوهيان دي بند کړے شي۔ ټي اين اين سره خبرو کښي ځائي اولس وئيلي دي چي دغه اوويا نه تراتيا پوري کوهيان پنځويشت کاله وړاندي غيرسرکاري ادارو افغان کډوالو لپاره جوړ کړي وو کومو نه به چي دوي اوبه ترلاسه کولي۔

دوي زياته کړي ده چي دغه کيمپ نه افغان کډوال کال دوه زره پنځه کښي خپلو سيمو ته بيرته تلي دي ولي دغه کوهيان اوس هم کولاو دي چي پکښي د ځناورو او انسانو پريوتو يره ده۔ نسيم نومي کس په دي حقله څه داسي اوويل۔

“دا قريبا اتيا نوي ګزه جور دي او سرونه پي نيشته نو کله ځناور ورلړه شي او کله انسانان۔ واړه ماشومان دلته لوبي کوي حکومت نه مو اول هم غوښتنه کړي وه او اوس هم تري کوو چي دا کوهيان دي بند کړے شي”
