NGOs In Kurram Agency Asked To Fire Non-local Staff Within Two Days

October 22, 2016
SADDA, 22 October: The political administration of Kurram Agency has issued directives to Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) working in the agency to fire all non-local staff within two days or else their No Objection Certificates (NOCs) would be cancelled.
According to officials, an NGO named as CHIP interviewed the local people against several vacant positions and appointed only seven of them. However the rest of positions were filled with candidates from the settled areas against which the local people staged a protest a few days back, said the officials.
Taking notice of the protest, the Additional Political Agent of Kurram Agency Nasrullah Khan on Saturday convened a meeting of the NGO’s chiefs which was also attended by representatives of FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) and local elders.
During the meeting, Nasrullah Khan issued directives to NGOs to fire all non-local staff and submit details with the administration within three days or else their NOCs would be cancelled.
It merits a mention here that Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) Secretariat and FDMA have already directed the NGOs working in tribal areas to appoint 90% off their staff from local people.
Meanwhile, the locals have expressed contentment over the action taken by the local administration against NGOs
