Walk held to create awareness regarding thalassemia
PESHAWAR, 04 January: To create awareness among masses regarding thalassemia, a non-governmental organization held a walk in University of Peshawar here on Monday.
Apart from other people, a large number of students participated in the walk. They were holding banners and placards inscribed with informatory slogans regarding thalassemia.
The organizer of the walk Yamna Sardar told TNN that every couple should have a clinical test regarding thalassemia before they wed so that their coming generation could be protected from this disease.
“Those who are thalassemia minor must test their blood before his/her marriage to minimize chances of children with thalassemia major,” she told.
She further said that there were more than 20 million thalassemia patients who need blood transfusion every month. “We need to create awareness among the masses to cap the increasing number of thalassemia patients,” she maintained
