Hockey players complain of not being paid D/A in Youth Festival
PESHAWAR, 02 January: The first Fata Youth Festival though concluded in Peshawar the other day but the complaints of players participated in the weeklong event are still pouring in.
This time hockey players from Kurram Agency have complained that except few players, most of them were not paid daily allowance.
“We repeatedly called our (team) captain and agency sport director but to no avail,” said one of the players.
“First they told us that the stipend would be given to us after reaching home station, but now they are saying that since we were not present on the concluding day of the festival, that’s why we were not paid,” he added.
“Players from all other agencies have been paid the allowances. We demand our due right,” another player said.
When contacted, agency sports director Amjad and captain of the hockey team Shahzad said since the players were not present on the last day, that was why they were not paid. They however said all the players would be given their due rights.
