Entry of private vehicles banned in University of Peshawar
PESHAWAR, 29 January: Citing security reasons, the administration of the University of Peshawar (UoP) has banned the entry of private vehicles inside the campus, officials said.
The ban has been imposed on the demand of the Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA), the officials added.
“Now, there will be no entry of private vehicles inside the campus. The private ‘pick and drop’ service providers too, will not be allowed to enter the campus,” an official told TNN.
University students have welcomed the ban and said it would prove helpful in preventing any untoward incident in future.
After the terrorists’ attack on Charsada’s Bacha Khan University, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government further tightened the security of public sector education institutions. The government has also issued instructions to private educational institutions in this regard. Police has also registered FIRs against a number of school owners and principals for inadequate security.
