KP retired employees to get pension through ATM cards
PESHAWAR, 2 January: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to launch a computerised system to make payment of pensions to retired employees easier.
KP Accountant General Shahzad M Taimur says under the first phase of the programme, retired employees of Grade 17 and above will receive their pensions through ATM cards. He said the system will be made functional from March this year. He said direct credit system will also be initiated for retired employees from Grade 1 to Grade 16 which is currently under process.
The retired employees have welcomed the introduction of new system, saying it will save their precious time and will make drawing pension easier.
“ATM is a very smooth procedure for drawing money but it needs education. Some pensioners may not be able to draw their money through the ATM due to lack of relevant training. Apart from this problem, this is the best system to withdraw money,” a pensioner told TNN.
Another pensioner said this system will save them from trouble of standing in queues for hours to collect their pension. “We arrived here early in the morning to receive our pension and we don’t know when our turn will come to get our money,” he said.
