Sewing machines distributed among deserving people in Orakzai
KALAYA, 1 January: A non-governmental organisation (NGO) has distributed 500 sewing machines among 500 deserving families on behalf of the Social Welfare Department in Orakzai Agency.
A ceremony in this regard was organised at the Agency Headquarters Jirga Hall on Thursday. Member National Assembly Ghazi Gulab Jamal and Additional Political Agent Ahmed Zeb on the occasion distributed sewing machines among the deserving people.
The people who received sewing machines said they were happy with this assistance. They said more sewing machines should be distributed among the deserving people.
A man who received sewing machine said it will help reduce unemployment in the area. “We are very thankful to the Social Welfare Department for distributing sewing machines which will enable the women to earn their livelihood in a dignified manner,” he said.
Another local tribesman said the government should also extend assistance to the deserving people of the area.
